Highschool Wrestling: My road to States.

Every year it's the same goal, win, win, win. It's all about having the mental compacity to succeed, if you believe you can succeed and have the ability and the strength to succeed, you will most likely succeed.  Being in division one isn't easy, and it takes more than just physicality to succeed in my sectional.

This year, my junior year, was perhaps one of my most successful seasons I've ever had in my wrestling career.  Although it was cut short, I ended with a winning record (26-13) and gained alot of confidence and skill this year.  My important matches were in the past two weeks, my conference tournament and my sectional tournament.  The SWC is a very tough conference for any sport but for wrestling its a whole other level, Midpark, Olmstead Falls, Westlake, Amherst and espically Brecksville and incredible teams this year, and I was one match short of a place.

Only one thing though is needed to be said about my sectional tournament... St. Eds, this team is by far one of the most incredibly strong and well disciplined teams in the nation, and they are nationally ranked.  And out of all the sectionals they have to be in ours, this is not only intimidating but it makes it harder to get out of my sectional to go to districts.  Although I didn't have to face St. Eds this year, I had a first round match vs the second seated kid from Elyria whom I went toe-to-toe with but I was beat.  I then won my second match then lost a, controversial, 1-0 match, due to bad officiating.

All-in-all my 2010-2011 season was cut short maybe due to bad offciating or maybe due to my lack of mental strength and my will to win, or maybe even just having a tough weight class full of successful, known  seniors.  Whatever the cause for my end of the season performance, I am deterimed to come back next year 100% healthier and stronger and I will make my last year my most successful year, I will push for the State tournament.

Love is in the air once again.

Yes its that time of the year again folks, Valentines Day. And my mother's Birthday (twice the lovin' for her!) Got a lover? Good for you! Guys, you are going to want to butter her up on this day, its kind of a no brainer, anything that shows your affection will do (unless they are that spoiled already). This year I went with the typical chocolates from Malley's and an affectionate love note, or small letter, along with a cute card. If it sounds corny it most likely is corny, but they love it, and when they tell you they do they most likely mean it! After all it is the one day out of the year to say something about how you feel!
Ladies, guys spoil you on this day, I mean chocolates in return is nice, but basically if he gives you something he just wants to know if you love it and to get some love in return. A romantic date doesn't hurt either, take her out, cook her dinner maybe, cozy up and watch a romance flick. Or anything else you can come up with that is creative will do. If you live in a warmer state (unlike Ohio) where you can take her outside, during February, around dusk and have a moonlight or candlelight picnic, go for it, chicks dig romantic things like this! To all the single people out there, well MINGLE, go out and find someone to share the day of love with. Or spend time with you family. I hope everyone out there enjoys their Valentine's Day, taken or single! P.S. Don't forget to give those with a Valentine's Day birthday some extra love!

Atmosphere

So, basically for the past 4 years or so, I've been introduced, and listened to Atmosphere. To give some background and to give you some insight and my personal opinion on Atmosphere, I'll tell you a little bit about them or however much I can tell you off the top of my head. So the rappers known as Ant, Slug and Spawn, created Atmosphere about 17 years ago out of Minneapolis, Minessota, and founded Rhymesayers Inc. Over the years this rap/hip-hop group has become one of the most successful and long lasting of its genre. Shortly after one of their earlier albums, "Overcast", Spawn (Derek Turner) left Atmosphere to pursue his own rap style.

Now-a-days, Slug (Sean Daley) is the MC and Ant (Anthony Davis) backs him up as the producer. Slug or as I, and many other refer to him as "Sluggo", and his rhymes tell stories, and they have an impact on me, the things he raps and rhymes about intrigues me. For every emotion there is a different song, like for instance, if I'm feeling down I'll cope with the song "Yesterday" or if I'm in a really good mood I'll listen to "YGM". For anyone looking for really good hip-hop music or "Rhymesaying" as I like to refer to Atmosphere's own genre, by all means look them up Here. Learn about them, and I'm sure in no time your iTunes will be full of rhymesaying, don't forget to follow the song with a quick http://www.google.com/ (insert song name and lyrics here).

To give my personal opinion Atmosphere would be nothing without Slug, but Slug would be nothing without Ant. Ant saw Slug’s talent back in the day and made him who he is today, the face and the voice of Atmosphere.
